We Band of Homeschoolers...

"We few, we (not so) happy few....."

Are you wondering what we weren't happy about? Let me start by saying that "few" is an understatement. Tuesday morning, at least 4,000 homeschoolers gathered at the state Capitol Tuesday morning to make it known that we were not happy with a bill they were trying to pass called SB 136. Below, Jess and I stop for a picture together! I realize we look happy, but it's just an illusion.

What do you know? Other people do this too!!!They wouldn't allow any more families to come in due to the fire safety regulations (even though there were empty seats available)!

As you can tell, we filled the place up!

Someone was rather tired! I'd say 5 in the morning for a youngster is a bit early to be up!

The hall-ways, as you can tell, were jam packed with people. And this was just some from our group!
The other half....

The best part of the whole event was the singing. That's right, I said singing! We started out singing the National Anthem, then our church group started Amazing Grace....with a group this big and so many knowing the parts, it sounded INCREDIBLE!!
We were wrapped around the building....

From top to bottom!

Some of the girls.....

And some of the guys!

All we could do was just watch, pray, and wait.

The kids sat around playing with nifty things....
and drawing or writing.

The parents stood around messing with their phones, checking on the updates coming from the hearing room in which the whole thing was taking place!

The kids also read...

and made things out of paper!

If you look close enough, Sam is giving us a double thumbs up!

Becca and Jesi stop for a quick picture!

"I'm on my way home...."

Thus, we have come to the end....

The bill has been tabled. Praise God! But we still need to pray that it doesn't resurrect with a new face! Praise to God who heard our petition and defended our homeschooling rights!

Until next time, Y'all come back now, ya hear?!?!? {insert smile}

  2. Sadly I didn't get to hear him, although I really wanted too!! I heard he did an amazing job, though! It was my pleasure! =)
